 PHILOSOPHY

Social Studies at New Dominion School consists of the integrated study of the social sciences to promote civic competence. Through the study of history, geography, political science, and sociology, students will develop the ability to make informed and reasoned decisions for self growth and the public good.

GOAL The student will gain insight and understanding in areas of Government/U.S. Civics, U.S. History, World History and World Geography. The student will be able to read, interpret, and use passages, maps, graphs, tables, charts, time lines and outlines regarding important events in these areas and successfully engage in comprehension, vocabulary building and critical thinking activities.
